Helen is a Yorkshire-based Freelance Copywriter and author of a currently unpublished historical novel.

Helen studied English Literature from Cambridge University, and after being so inspired by Aphra Behn whilst writing her final dissertation, she decided to pursue these interests and begin writing a series of novels.

Alongside her work as a Copywriter and Social Media Coach at Ink Gardener Copywriting, she has now completed the first manuscript in her historical fiction series.

Currently searching for an agent, Helen is hoping to be published by one of the Big Five, for reasons which she explained in our interview with her. As well as sharing her story so far and the reasons behind various decisions (such as choosing commercial over indie publishing!), she also offers some brilliant advice about how to make contacts and get to know the industry.

“Publishing isn’t like most industries. It busies itself with questions of intangible value and moral worth. Nor is it exactly like the arts or sciences, as it obsesses over balance sheet and profit margins. Publishing is weird.”
